Colon hydrotherapy is a simple and effective way to prepare the colon for colonoscopy as well as other colon procedures, especially in the elderly, frail and constipated. It is also useful in diabetics and patients unable to undergo fasting as well as those who are unable to tolerate an episode of diarrhea.

The goal of colonoscopy prep is to eliminate all fecal material from the colon so that the physician conducting the colonoscopy will have a clear view. Many of my clients have reported that they much prefer getting a few colonics to clear waste from the bowel than drinking the harsh chemicals that can cause severe cramping and watery, explosive squirts the day before their colonoscopy procedure.

A Neglected Colon Becomes a Cesspool

| January 2nd, 2011 | No Comments »

The following excerpt is from a 380-page report on alimentary toxemia at proceedings in London before the Royal Society of Medicine in 1912:

The colon is the body’s natural sewage system. By neglect and abuse it becomes a dysfunctional cesspool. When it is clean and normal we are well and happy. Let it stagnate, and it will distill the poisons of decay, fermentation and putrefaction into the blood, poisoning the brain and nervous system, so that we become mentally depressed and irritable. It will poison the heart so that we are weak and listless. It will poison the lungs so that the breath is foul. It will poison the digestive organs so that we are distressed and bloated. It will poison the blood so that the skin is sallow and unhealthy looking.

In short, every organ of the body is poisoned when the colon is overloaded and diseased. This promotes premature aging, so that we look and feel older than we are,. So that the joints are stiff and painful. So that neuritis, dull eyes and a sluggish brain overtake us. Clearly, then, the pleasure of living is gone.

To reverse this condition requires a change in diet, exercise and cleansing procedures. One of the easiest and quickest ways has been found in the practice of colon hydrotherapy. Colonics are administered by inserting a small tube, called a speculum, into the bowel. This tube is connected to inlet and outlet hoses. Water flows into the colon, and out again, bringing with it built-up waste material.  This procedure cleanses and exercises the colon while it dislodges old waste and gas, resulting in a light, healthy feeling internally.

This photograph shows a very diseased colon. Dark areas are stagnant blood and accumulated fecal material. this colon is not as uncommon as we might like to think.

Colonics vs Enemas ~ What’s the Difference?

| December 29th, 2010 | No Comments »

The large intestine or “colon” ranges between 4 — 6 feet in length. An enema merely flushes out the lower end of the colon where the waste matter (feces) collects. The average enema uses only about two quarts of water, while a colonic hydrotherapy treatment uses 15 to 30 gallons of water to flush out the entire lower bowel. Warm, purified water is introduced at the rate of one cup to two quarts at a time according to the body’s comfort and tolerance. The fecal matter is expelled . This action can soften and wash away impactions lining the colon or “lower bowel”.

For a description of the differences between “Open” and “Closed” Colon Hydrotherapy systems click here.

The closed-system colonic devise used at Oasis Colonics allows water to gently irrigate the colon in a slow, comfortable manner. During a colonic, the body’s own natural peristalsis propels the waste material out by means of wave-like muscular contractions. The colon cleansing “machine” is NOT a type of internal vacuum cleaner or waste extractor, nor is it a pressure hose. It’s function can be understood as a technologically advanced “enema bag” that administers water into the colon while simultaneously monitoring temperature and pressure ensuring safety and efficacy.

Board Certified Surgeon Endorses Colon Hydrotherapy

| December 15th, 2010 | No Comments »

Thirty years ago, Leonard Smith, MD, of Gainesville, Florida graduated from medical school and eventually became board certified in general surgery by the American College of Surgery. For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Smith has practiced as a specialist in gastrointestinal surgery. He has dealt with all types of colon difficulties, including operations for overcoming colon cancer, colon diverticulitis, appendicitis, hemorrhoids, and numbers of other internal organ health problems.

“I am very well acquainted with the colon’s functions, and my true belief is that colon hydrotherapy is the perfect cleansing medium for preparing the patient for colonoscopy. It’s a much better way of getting the human colon ready for an operation than having a patient swallow a gallon of that usual presurgery solution known as ‘Colon-Go-Lytely.’ Instead, colon hydrotherapy has the patient avoid this solution’s noxious side effects of vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and other troubles,” Dr. Smith says.

“Moreover, seriously ill patients tend to be chronically constipated which results in generalized toxemia. It turns out that colon hydrotherapy is the gentlest and most effective treatment to take care of a sick person’s constipation problem. My recommendation for cancer patients is that they should undergo frequent colon hydrotherapy procedures to make sure a colon’s toxic burden is being kept at a minimum while their bodies are trying to heal,” affirms Dr. Smith. “While not a substitute for eating a high fiber diet, those cancer patients who take colon hydrotherapy often experience the elimination of their aches and pains, improvement of appetite, and they tolerate a tough healing process better.”

“I also believe that normally healthy people will find it valuable to take colon hydrotherapy every couple of months in order to experience how well one feels when the colon is truly empty. It’s a fact that most people fail to fully evacuate the colon, something they don’t realize. People undergoing colon hydrotherapy on a prevention basis become quite surprised at how much waste is removed by the procedure,” Dr. Smith says.

“Without any reservation, I declare that my wish is to see it become an established procedure for many kinds of gastrointestinal problems. If medical centers, hospitals, and clinics installed colon hydrotherapy departments, they would find such departments just as efficacious for patients as their present treatment areas which are devoted to physiotherapy,” states Leonard Smith, M.D. “Such is my true belief, and I do endorse this therapeutic program.”

How Can Colonics Rinse Out Parasites?

| December 10th, 2010 | No Comments »

Parasites commonly exist in our bodies, especially the colon, where the dark, warm and moist environment is nourishing. Parasites have adapted for survival, therefore they do not easily jump into a flow of water headed for their destruction. Parasites do not simply rinse out of the body during a colonic, in the same way that grimy dirt does not simply rinse from the kitchen counter with mere water. So, destroy the critters in order that they can be easily escorted to the exit door in the flow of cleansing colonic water.

Water is the most nourishing and cleansing element on earth. We could not survive long without it. Water nourishes and protects our tissues.  Water washes away pathogens, and helps to keep us clean.

In colon hydrotherapy, water is our ally and aid. It carries away waste material, yeasts and parasites that have built up in the bowel, and rinses them away from where they cause distress and disease. But we should not expect that water alone can effectively rinse out all unwanted “dirt” from the body.

When we clean the house, we use soap and sponge to scrub and loosen the dirt. Then we use water to rinse the dirt away. Similarly, when we clean the colon, it is helpful to use scrubbing supplements like fibers, clay and herbs to soften, loosen and break up old debris. Then the water can more effectively flush and remove potentially damaging substances, including parasites, from the lower bowel.

Theresa Shumacher, co-author of Cleansing the Body and the Colon for a Happier and Healthier You, estimates that there are about “300 different types of parasites thriving in America today.” She continues, If waste is not eliminated within 24 hours, it begins a toxic buildup that provides a breeding ground for parasitic infection…a clogged intestine with putrid fecal matter and plenty of sugar provides the ideal environment for parasites to thrive.  It is now common knowledge that the average American adult has between 10-20 pounds of putrefying waste matter lodged in their intestines.”

In my work as a colon therapist, I am continually impressed with the efficacy of calcium bentonite clay in assisting the body to rid itself of pathogenic waste. Parasites included.

In his book, The Clay Cure, Ran Knishinsky writes:

“While many herbs and homeopathic remedies are suggested for this condition, I believe clay offers one of the finest treatments for all types of parasites…its use will stimulate the gall bladder to increase the flow of bile, according to Raymond Dextreit, a French naturopath. He writes that no parasite can live too long under any bilious condition.” And, “considerable research has shed light on the connection between clay eating and parasites.  The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition mentions this in a recent article:  “Geophagy can be a source of nutrients.  Its primary way of enhancing nutritional status appears to be, however, to counter dietary toxins and, secondarily, the effects of gastrointestinal parasites” (Johns and Duquette 1991).  Further, numerous citations in a host of other journals collaborate this fact: throughout the globe, people eat clay in response to parasites.”

People have been eating clay all over the globe, in every indigenous society and in every culture. Knishinsky, as well as numerous other health practitioners, including myself, recommend ingesting clay daily. To do this you can drink hydrated clay. It is generally suggested to drink one to two ounces of liquefied clay on an empty stomach. If you’re taking medication, it is recommended to wait 1 – 3 hours before ingesting clay, but since medications vary in time release and content, it is a good idea to check with your physician.

An effective way to get rid of the parasites inside your body is to detoxify with calcium bentonite clay. Many of the clients at Oasis Colonics in Portland, Oregon, use the calcium bentonite clay from the clay mines in Death Valley, California because it is one of the purest and best detoxifying agents in the world. It is a well reputed in restoring the colon’s ability to perform its natural function of eliminating harmful toxins, including parasites and their nasty by-products.
