Colonics Explained
What is colon hydrotherapy?
Colon Hydrotherapy is a safe, effective treatment used to help eliminate toxic waste from the large intestine. It is also known by other names such as colonic irrigation, colonics, colon hydration and colon therapy. The gentle infusion and out-flow of warm filtered water helps to soften, loosen, and remove dehydrated fecal matter, excess gas, mucoid plaque, parasites and other poisonous substances that fill the bowel, and layer the intestinal walls. Colon hydrotherapy can also help tone and reshape the colon.
What are the benefits of colon therapy?
Many benefits can often be observed throughout the body in the form of clearer skin, more energy and mental clarity, fewer headaches, weight loss and improvement of circulation and immune function. A variety of health practitioners often refer their patients to the colonic therapist since, by detoxifying the system using colonics, their therapies tend to be more effective. Most people feel clearer, lighter and more comfortable. A series of colonics is a great kick-start to a diet or detox program and/or life-style improvement. Everyone can benefit from internal cleansing. We are exposed daily to toxins, pollutants in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat. Waste accumulated in the body creates toxicity.
What is a session like?
Each session is a comfortable cleansing experience for most people. Sessions last approximately one hour. Modesty is respected at all times during the colonic treatment. A special gown and coverings are provided. The colonic is most often administered while lying face-up on a massage table. Gentle infusions of filtered water are introduced into the bowel. This water, along with waste material is released through the evacuation line, and proceeds into the sewer. This procedure is repeated several times until the session is complete.
How many colonics are suggested?
For someone who has never experienced colon cleansing of any kind, it may take between three and twelve treatments for old impacted fecal matter to release. Often the waste is so hard and deeply lodged in the colon that it takes a series of sessions to sufficiently soften and loosen the material. It is also common to expel a considerable amount of gas during the first few treatments. The number of treatments varies with each individual and his/her condition. Colon cleansing fiber and herbs greatly increase the efficacy of the colonic procedure. Years of improper nutrition and ill-health cannot be reversed merely with a few colonics. We recommend 3 to 6 colonics close together (about 2-3 days to 1 week apart) when beginning your series.
